The City of Burlington is the largest and most populated
city in Vermont and and is often refered to as the "Queen of Lake Champlain" because
of its unique location on the eastern shores of beautiful Lake Champlain bordering
the edge of the Adirondack Park. Each year, Burlington welcomes thousands of visitors
traveling to the Lake Champlain Valley and the Adirondack mountains of upstate

University of Vermont, established in 1791, is the largest institution of higher
learning in Vermont, comprising nearly 300 buildings and a 950-acre main campus.
The university maintains a dual focus on instruction and research. Its enrollment
is 7,601 undergraduates, 1,106 graduates and 394 medical students. The average
undergraduate class size is 22.
The
University of Vermont faculty consists of 974 full-time and 183 part-time instructors.
Most of the undergraduates are from outside Vermont, principally the Northeastern
states. UVM offers more than 90 undergraduate majors; the most popular are business,
English, and political science. The university also offers four preprofessional
programs; 72 master's and 20 doctoral degree programs; and an M.D. program.

Champlain Maritime Festival
Lake Champlain Waterfront, Burlington, Vermont The Lake Champlain
Maritime Festival celebration promises great events and exciting
activities in a spectacular setting; Burlington's Waterfront on
the shores of Lake Champlain. The Burlington Waterfront has grown
from what once was an industrial/commercial site to what is today
a beautiful and active recreational Waterfront. The Lake Champlain
Maritime Festival will join with the many attractions and activities
that line the Lake Champlain Burlington Waterfront to celebrate
the past, present and future of Lake Champlain and Burlington.
Dragonheart Vermont Announces the Annual Citizens Bank Lake Champlain
Dragon Boat Festival.
Dragonheart Vermont, a breast cancer survivor Dragon boat team,
is hosting the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival at Burlington’s
Waterfront Park . The Festival will feature 85 Dragon boat teams
from the Vermont community and 5 Breast Cancer Survivor teams from
the U.S. and Canada. It’s fun for the whole family with lively entertainment,
great food, a huge Silent Auction, raffles, a children’s tent, and
more. Proceeds to benefit Camp Ta-Kum-Ta (www.takumta.org), a camp
for kids with cancer and Dragonheart Vermont. 8am to 5pm; free admission
for spectators. A Dragon boat is a 41 foot long canoe paddled by
a team of 20 people. A drummer sits in the bow beating out the cadence
of the stroke. Races are fast, furious and fun! For information

Albans
The City of St Albans
is located near Lake Champlain in the Northwest corner of the state and was originally
settled in 1774 and incorporated as a city in 1897. During the Civil War period,
Saint Albans was the scene of the northernmost engagement of the American Civil
War.
